Vinesh Phogat is an Indian wrestler who represents India internationally in the 48 kg/50 kg/53 kg weight category. She belongs to a successful family of wrestlers and wrestling was already a passion in his family and was nothing new for Vinesh as her cousins Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari, being international wrestlers and Commonwealth Games medalists as well.

She is the First Indian Athlete to be nominated for Laureus World Sports Awards. She made India proud after winning Gold in both Commonwealth and Asian games and became the first Indian woman wrestler to do so. Currently, she hit the headlines as he is a part of the Indian contingent being sent for the Tokyo Olympics 2021.

As per her career, she won the bronze medal at the 2013 Asian Wrestling Championships in the women’s freestyle 52 kg category. She finished second and won the silver medal at the 2013 Commonwealth Wrestling Championships in the women’s freestyle 51 kg category.

After that, in the 2014 Commonwealth Games, she won a gold medal in the women’s freestyle 48 kg category. She won the bronze medal at the 2014 Asian Games in the women’s freestyle 48 kg category. She won the silver medal at the 2015 Asian Championships in Doha.

She won the gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast in women’s 50 kg freestyle wrestling. She won the gold medal and became the first Indian woman wrestler to win gold in the Asian Games.
